Who am I?
I am a Qualified Member (MCIL) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) and
Qualified Member (MITI) of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) here
in the UK. I work in accordance with the ITI’s Code of Professional Conduct, underwritten
by Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII).
Where was I educated?
I gained an MA with Distinction in Translation Studies (University of Hull, 2005)
having previously studied at Oxford University (1995/6) following a BA Honours in
Modern Languages (in French and German from UWE, 1995).
What is my translation background?
I have worked as a freelance translator and proofreader of general and financial
texts since 2005, handling almost a million words since 2016 alone.
I now translate and proofread a wide range of material for publication and have published
two Economics book translations with the prestigious academic publisher, Springer
Verlag (2011, 2013).
What is my accountancy background?
I trained and worked as a financial accountant in London, auditing and preparing
annual reports and keeping accounts for SME service companies and manufacturers.
I continue to stay up-to-date through ongoing CPD.
