I translate between 1500 and 3500 French or German words into English a day, with an average of 2000 words daily. Quantities vary according to the complexity of language and formatting.

I also read through other translators' work in the role of second proofreader as well as undertaking editing and revision.

For full details, please refer to my General Terms and Conditions of Business.

I translate certificates and diplomas, CV's, websites and general documents or marketing material. I also translate in the specialist fields of Finance, Economics and Banking. Sometimes a client will just need a minute of my time and I am pleased to include this as a value-added service and welcome this opportunity to provide linguistic or cultural advice.

I am occasionally asked to certify my translation of a Certificate or diploma, which I am entitled to do as a Qualified Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. I will certify that the translation I produce is an accurate translation of the document I was sent, and that I am a member of an approved body. This is however not proof of the authenticity of the original document. Some authorities allow the translator to work from a photocopy of the original document but others require this to be either the original or a certified copy. You must check their requirements. All original documentation must be sent and returned by recorded delivery.

Notarized translations Sometimes the authorities allow translations to be notarized using a photocopy of the original which you send me, but often they can only accept them if the translation is from an original document or certified copy. You must check what they require. All important documents should be sent and returned by recorded delivery.

If you are wondering why you are not using a free online translation tool instead of paying a human translator, you might like to try one by using this hyperlink. Simply copy and paste your French or German text into the Google translator and ask it to produce a translation in English. You will soon see that the free version allows you to obtain the gist of your document, but is far from being a smooth polished translation that could be submitted to the authorities or published alongside the rest of your marketing material.
